'Riverdale's' KJ Apa Says He Needs To Rinse His Mouth After Every Kiss

The show filming in Vancouver has a unique way of doing kissing scenes.

Imagine giving someone a smooch and they go to immediately wash their mouth out — that's what's happening on the set of Riverdale in B.C. right now according to KJ Apa who plays Archie on the show.

In a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, September 23, the actor can be seen with co-star Camila Mendes, who plays his girlfriend Veronica.

"our new normal is washing our mouths before every take of a make-out scene..." reads the caption, as the video shows the pair taking a sip from tiny dixie cups.

They stand there swishing for a considerable time when a voice says "we're 30 seconds in" and then after what seems like a full minute since they began, they spit it into little ziplock bags.

Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty on the show, commented "That shit burns," on the post and they don't exactly look comfortable or happy about the mouthwash.

Back in March of this year, Riverdale shut down production in Vancouver suddenly after reps said that a team member had come into contact with someone with COVID-19.

The cast and crew returned to Vancouver recently and underwent a 14-day long quarantine.

They finally got back to filming on September 14 so it won't be long until fans can watch new episodes with makeout scenes made with COVID-19 measures in place.
