A Huge Snowstorm In BC Has About 32,000 People Without Power In Right Now
About 32,000 houses are without power right now on Vancouver Island due to a big B.C. storm on Monday, December 21.
BC Hydro says the cause of the outage is heavy, wet snow that has added weight to tree branches, causing them to break and crash into power lines and other electric equipment.

Customers without power in Duncan, B.C.
The hardest-hit areas are Duncan, Gulf Islands, Victoria, and Nanaimo. The outages in these areas add up to nearly 30,000 customers.
"All available resources will continue to work throughout the day and into the night to make repairs and restore power. Difficult conditions, including snow and ice on roads, are creating additional challenges for crews," the provider wrote.
Other parts of the province are being impacted, as well, just not at such a high volume.
There are a few outages on the Lower Mainland, in the Okanagan and Kootenay area, and over in the Shuswap, among other places.
According to Environment Canada, many parts of Southern B.C. and Vancouver Island are under snowfall warnings.
