The free online encyclopedia known as Wikipedia is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, and the whole internet is invited to celebrate the milestone.

Over 53 Million Articles on Wikipedia

To celebrate, the website will be hosting a live streaming event featuring all the people from around the world who make it possible, as they will tell their stories about working for the company in their native language.

Wikipedia now hosts over 53-million articles in nearly 300 languages ever since its creation on January 15, 2001.

Those articles are created and edited by volunteers from around the world hosted by the Wikipedia Foundation.

"When thousands of people come together to share their knowledge voluntarily and build up a big encyclopedia, it's a knowledge revolution," said a Wikipedia volunteer.

Those on Twitter who have been using Wikipedia throughout their education or even just for fun are now joining the celebration by watching the live stream or simply sending a thank you to the website.
