If you were hoping to pick up a fur coat from Winners this year, you may have to shop elsewhere. Winners has banned fur from all of its stores in Canada.

In a press release shared on October 13, animal-rights group PETA shared the news.

The organization explained that Winners was the last TJX Companies brand to sell fur items, after its other brands started dropping these products in other countries.

4,500 Stores will now be fur-free

According to PETA, the move means that more than 4,500 stores, including HomeSense and Marshalls in Canada, will now be fur-free.

The organization’s executive vice president said of the change, “Rabbits, coyotes, and other animals are winning big with Winners’ decision to drop fur.”

Winners, HomeSense and Marshalls will join multiple clothing companies in Canada that have also recently made a move to become fur-free.

This includes stores like Nordstrom, Gap and H&M, as well as designer brands such as Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Gucci.

Earlier this year, Canada Goose committed to becoming more sustainable by 2022, by switching to "reclaimed fur" as opposed to brand new materials.
