Advance Voting In Canada's Federal Election Is Happening Only On These 4 Days

You can cast your ballot before election day.

Senior Writer

If you're looking to cast your ballot without going to a polling station on election day, there are some advance voting options.

Advance polling stations for this year's Canadian federal election are open across the country from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time on these four voting days:

  • Friday, September 10
  • Saturday, September 11
  • Sunday, September 12
  • Monday, September 13

For the election, you can vote only at your assigned polling station. You can find the address of your assigned location on the back of your voter information card, online or by calling 1-800-463-6868.

To vote, you'll need to prove your identity and address. There are different ways you can do this, depending on whether or not you have ID, and what kind of ID you have.

While voting in advance is an option, there are also a few other ways to vote in the federal election. You can cast your ballot by mail, ahead of time at an Elections Canada office, or at a polling station on election day, which is September 20.
