A 'Hazardous' Winter Storm Is About To Burry Alberta In Up To 50 cm Of Snow
If you've been dreaming of a white Christmas, you're in luck because Alberta's weather forecast for the week is showing a big dump of snow in many parts of the province.
On the morning of Monday, December 21, Environment Canada issued weather warnings for most of Southern Alberta. From up to 50 centimetres of snow to some pretty hazardous driving conditions, we may want to enjoy this one from indoors.

Total snowfall amounts may exceed 50 cm locally by Tuesday afternoon.

The area that can look forward to the most snow is the Kananaskis - Canmore region where they may see more than 50 centimetres piling up.
Other years can expect about 20 centimetres. The areas include:
- Airdrie - Cochrane - Olds - Sundre
- Banff National Parl
- Brooks - Strathmore - Vulcan
- Cardston - Fort Macleod - Magrath
- City of Calgary
- Crowsnest Pass - Pincher Creek - Waterton Lake Nat. Park
- Cypress Hills Provincial Park - Foremost
- Drumheller - Three Hills
- Hannah - Coronation - Oyen
- Lethbridge - Taber - Milk River
- Medicine Hat - Bow Island - Suffield
- Nordegg - Forestry Trunk Road Highway 734
- Okotoks - High River - Claresholm
The warnings say that the snow will be kicking off on Monday and lasting into Tuesday afternoon.
Environment Canada is warning for "quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions." So, avoid the roads if you can.
