It's a magical spot for an adventure.

This Ontario attraction is a true hidden gem. You can spend your days hunting for sparkling amethyst and even bring some home with you.

The Diamond Willow Amethyst Mine, located about an hour from Thunder Bay, is a scenic and serene destination where you can dig for your own dazzling purple crystals.

You can explore the designated picking areas, where you'll find a variety of stunning amethysts in various colours.

The venue offers visitors a 2-gallon pail that they can fill with sparkling treasures as they wander through the mine. A full pail costs $40.

The experience is mainly self-guided, with an interpretative information area on the history and geology of the mine.

You can also visit the Rock Shop, a "must-see" destination with glittering gemstones, gifts, and more.

It's important to dress for the weather conditions and wear footwear like running shoes or hiking boots for climbing on rock piles. It can get hot, so you may want to bring some sunscreen and insect repellent.

If you're still craving more crystal magic, the area is also home to Amethyst Mine Panorama, another nearby attraction where you can continue your treasure hunt among dreamy views and even more gleaming treasures.

The Diamond Willow Amethyst Mine is a unique spot for an adventure, open from mid-May to mid-October.
