The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel made the cut for Obama's favourite books of 2020.

The story is about the collapse of an investment scam and the disappearance of a woman from a ship that's at sea.

The book also has another Canadian connection as one of the characters works in B.C.

Mandel posted Obama's list on Instagram with her book circled and shared how she heard the news.

"I found out via email while making a snowman with my kid, who eventually resorted to stuffing snow in my coat pockets in an effort to make me stop jumping up and down," she said in the post's caption.

Recently, Obama also brought attention to Canada when he compared the country's COVID-19 per capita death toll to what it is in the U.S.
