The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is letting people know that Canadian-US borders across the country are going to have new hours, which means you'll have less time to make the trip across.

If you're planning a trip across the US-Canadian border anytime soon take notes, because this one in Alberta is going to be closed earlier in the day.

35 land ports of entry around Canada will have adjusted service hours, starting on January 6, 2025. For Alberta, only one crossing is impacted. Del Bonita, the border crossing in Southern Alberta, will be changing its hours, to be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.

"Today's announcement, determined in collaboration with the United States, will enhance overall security for both countries. It will allow the CBSA to use its resources more efficiently by deploying officers at busier ports of entry. This will support the CBSA’s ability to process travellers and goods as well as to manage enforcement activities," the release said.

CBSA also said that these changes — which are based on an analysis of peak periods, services required, and operational pressures — will be aimed at minimizing "the impacts on border communities."
