Calgary Police Caught A Man Walking Around With A Loaded Gun & Tons Of Drugs In Marshalls

A man was arrested with a loaded firearm and thousands of dollars of drugs in a Calgary Marshalls On Sunday, January 24.

Police say that they have laid 21 drug, weapon, and fraud-related charges on the 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman who was with him.

Over $15,000 Worth of drugs was seized. 

The police report explains that an employee observed suspicious behaviour and recognized the man, who was wanted on a Canadawide warrant

"Upon police arrival, the suspect attempted to flee the scene and was taken into custody after a brief struggle with officers," read the report. 

There was a woman with him that was wanted on eight outstanding warrants and she was also arrested. 

According to the statement, the events took place inside a Marshalls location in east Calgary, at East Hills Shopping Centre. 

During the arrest, police seized the following:

  • A loaded .gun
  • 110 grams of methamphetamine
  • Small amounts of cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and prescription drugs
  • $3,890 in Canadian money

 “This individual was carrying a loaded weapon in a public space, which created a significant risk to public safety. We are thankful that the store’s employees were able to recognize suspicious activity and report it so that police could safely apprehend the suspect,” said Staff Sergeant Jim Shaw of the Calgary Police.
