On Monday, March 15, over 250 workers walked off the job during a Coca-Cola strike in Calgary.

The representative union, Teamster Local Union 987, said in a press release that workers from "warehouse, production, distribution and equipment service roles" are demanding more job security.

This strike will likely impact the distribution of Coca-Cola to Albertan stores and restaurants, the release continued.

Narcity has reached out to Coca-Cola for comment and will update this story when we receive a response.

"Over the past year, these workers were deemed an essential service and have been there for Albertans. Now it’s time that Albertans stand with them as they fight for job security during uncertain times," said Brock Penner, Business Agent, Teamsters Local Union 987.

The union says that workers have been losing their jobs to third-party contractors, "reducing their ability to earn a suitable livelihood for themselves and their families."
