135 Calgarians Will Speak Out About Racism In The City This Week At A Public Hearing

Over 70,000 people signed a petition to make this happen.

On Tuesday, July 7 and Wednesday, July 8 there will be a public hearing on systemic racism in Calgary. It will kick off at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday and can be accessed digitally. 

The public hearing follows a massive petition with over 70,000 signatures demanding that systemic racism in Calgary be discussed in a setting like this. 

135 Community members have signed up to share their experiences with racism in the city.

According to an update from the Ward 9 Community in Calgary, the hearing will include a word from Mayor Nenshi and a critical discussion from a diverse panel. 

Following the panel, the floor will be open for civilians to speak, everyone will have about five minutes.
