We asked Canadians what's 'stupidly overpriced' now and it's not just groceries

Living in Canada can be expensive, and we asked Canadians to reveal what things are "stupidly overpriced" in this country.
It's not just groceries that are too expensive now, so you might not expect everything people said.
Recently, Narcity posted on Facebook and asked, "What's stupidly overpriced in Canada but shouldn't be?"
There have been more than 6,000 comments as people revealed everything that they think costs too much in this country.
So, here are the most commented "stupidly overpriced" things in Canada right now.
Groceries
Groceries are "stupidly overpriced" but shouldn't be, according to Canadians.
"I remember when $100 of groceries filled a shopping cart. Now you would be lucky to even fill a shopping bag with $100 worth of groceries," commented Leslie McDougall.
"There's definitely price gouging going on," Thomas Laursen said.
Some people told Narcity the specific products that are too expensive at grocery stores in Canada.
One of the overpriced grocery items that people said most often is beef, especially Canadian beef.
A lot of Canadians also said cheese, milk, butter, fresh produce, eggs, coffee, bread and water are overpriced but shouldn't be.
Given that maple syrup is classically Canadian, people said it's more expensive than it should be.
Some also commented that specific grocery stores are overpriced, particularly Loblaw-owned stores.
"Anything sold by Loblaws," Patty McNeill said.
Travel
One of the most "stupidly overpriced" things in Canada right now is travel, according to Canadians.
Many people commented that air travel in general is too expensive.
But even more Canadians said domestic flights in this country are overpriced, whether that be between provinces and territories or within provinces and territories.
Steve Robbins noted that the cost of airfare out of the northern parts of Canada is very expensive.
"I can fly to Europe for less than a ticket to Vancouver," Beth Browning commented.
"We've always wanted to go to the Maritimes, but when you look at prices, it's cheaper to go to the U.K.," Melonia Nicol said.
"It's cheaper to fly from Edmonton to Italy than it is to Edmonton to Nova Scotia," said Gerard Pattenden.
Quite a few people said that travelling by train, whether across Canada or just within one province, is overpriced when it shouldn't be.
Both Gilbert Khang and Catherine Hercus singled out VIA Rail train tickets as being one of the most "stupidly overpriced" things in Canada.
Insurance
Insurance is too expensive in Canada right now, according to Canadians.
Quite a few people specified that car insurance is "stupidly overpriced," but others also said house insurance costs too much.
Daniel Gonzalez commented that "insurance of any kind" is overly expensive in Canada.
Housing
It's probably not a surprise that many people said housing is "stupidly overpriced" in Canada right now.
But it's not just the cost of buying a house that's too expensive.
A lot of Canadians also commented that rent is "stupidly overpriced."
Michael Long said that housing costs are especially overpriced around Vancouver and the Greater Fraser Valley in B.C.
"Definitely house rent," said Shivani Kayenaat Kaul.
Candace Turner commented that housing is overpriced when it shouldn't be. "Owned or rented," Turner said.
Cell phones
Some people said that cell phones are "stupidly overpriced," but they shouldn't be.
That includes the cost to buy a phone, the service charges and the cost of phone plans.
"Cell phone plans — Canada's way of making you pay rent to talk to your mom," Jas Paida commented.
Alexandre Côté said that cell phone plans in Canada are "more expensive than anywhere in Europe and probably the rest of the world."
"Cell phones by a long shot," Maralyn Mitchell commented.
Shirley Hanna Obrigewitch said the cost of cell phone service in Canada seems to be "the highest in the world."
Alcohol
Quite a few people told Narcity that alcohol, like beer and wine, is too expensive in Canada, but it shouldn't be.
"Alcohol [is] nearly triple the price compared to the States," said Jerry Jersey.
Some said most beer, and specifically draught beer, is more expensive than it should be in Canada.
Both Francesco D'Angelo and Jackson Clark commented that Canadian wine is overpriced right now.
Gas
Some people commented that gas is too expensive in Canada right now.
"I saw an 11-cent change in one day," Frank Heij commented.
But it's not just gas prices for cars that are overpriced in this country, according to Canadians.
It's also natural gas, propane, and other fuels that you use at home, whether it be for heating, BBQs, or equipment like lawn mowers and tractors.
"Fuel. Always fuel," Mike Kehle said.
Everything
A lot of people commented that pretty much everything is "stupidly overpriced" in Canada now.
"The list goes on and on," Ivy Burt said.
"Every single thing except Costco hot dogs," Abby JF commented.
Bob Liz Santo commented that taxes make everything more expensive.
"Just about everything, especially when you throw in the taxes," said Paul Nesbitt.
Shantelle Em said, "The bigger question: what is not overpriced?!"
Also, Paul Seredoka told Narcity that it's probably easier to find out what's "reasonably priced in Canada" rather than what's overpriced.
But Pennie Lynn Erickson said there would be no comments if that was the question!
