30,000 Doses Of The New COVID-19 Vaccine Should Arrive In Canada By Monday
The good news just keeps on coming! When it comes to COVID-19 vaccines in Canada, Justin Trudeau confirmed that the country’s first doses could arrive as early as Monday.
On December 9, Health Canada officially gave the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine candidate the green light for rollout.
As the federal government had already secured a multi-million vaccine deal with the company, this means supplies will start arriving within days.
Tweeting about the news on Wednesday, the prime minister said, “Up to 249,000 doses are coming this month, with millions more in the new year.”

Doses expected to arrive by Monday
Trudeau also confirmed that 30,000 doses should arrive in Canada early as Monday “at the 14 points of shipment across the country.”
Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday, Health Canada Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Supriya Sharma described the news as a “momentous occasion.”
“It’s an exceptional day for Canada,” she said, also joking that the speedy approval meant the country was “better” than the United States.
Sharma added that rollout would begin with priority groups “within days,” with vaccination of the general population set to begin in April 2021.
The federal government has already laid out a plan for distribution, with health care staff and elderly people at the top of the list.
After the United Kingdom gave the same vaccine the go-ahead last week, 90-year-old Maggie became the first person in the world to get the official shot on Tuesday.
