The Edmonton airport announced on Tuesday, September 22, that they will be resuming direct international flights from Edmonton to Europe courtesy of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

Due to current restrictions, international flights are not allowed to land in Edmonton, but the authorities have found a loophole to make international travel easier for Edmontonians.

KLM will implement a circle route that will see it arrive at Calgary International Airport when it returns to Canada, picking up passengers in Calgary, then flying to EIA to pick up Edmonton travellers.

The EIA added in the release that after picking up Edmonton passengers, the flights will fly non-stop to Amsterdam.

These flights will kick off starting October 29, and they will operate two days a week: Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The Netherlands currently has no travel restrictions for arriving Canadians but non-essential travel is still not being advised by The Government of Canada.
