The Most Jaw-Dropping Waterfall In Alberta Is Less Than A 1-km Walk To Get To (PHOTOS)

Afternoon stroll, anyone?
Staff Writer

One of the most amazing waterfalls in Alberta takes almost no effort to get to. Ram Falls Provincial Park is home to one of the most jaw-dropping spectacles you've ever seen and you need to visit it at least once. Just be sure to take your camera because these views need to be captured.

A nice day in Alberta means you simply must get out of the house and into the great outdoors.

During the summer, we recommend skipping the heavily clogged areas like Banff and hitting up something different and a little more secluded.

A short 0.8-kilometre hike in Ram Falls Provincial Park brings you to a massive waterfall that you wouldn't believe you've never heard of.

The hike is considered to be easy to don’t worry about bringing all your hiking gear. Though, you should always back some water, a snack, layers, and supportive footwear.

Located near Nordegg, this short walk will give you some of the best nature views you can think of and you don’t even have to spend all day getting to the good part.

Good for an afternoon activity, this hike will bring you to the waterfall created by the Ram River.

The waterfall is massive and the water actually plunges 20 meters onto the sandstone rock below.

The trail will lead you to a platform where you can look out onto the waterfall.

Even though you may be tempted to get a little closer to the body of water, the best thing to do is stay on the path and enjoy the view from the designated areas.

Trust us, the view is unobstructed and you can get epic shots from the path.

Fair warning, cellphone reception in the area is limited so if you're unsure of where to go and are going to be relying on GPS to get to the park, we recommend printing out a map.

While the waterfall is the main attraction, there are tons of things to do in the area including fishing and camping.

There are even cute little picnic tables around the park, so bring lunch with you.

Just be sure to clean up after yourself so you don’t attract any unwanted visitors.

As you hike, be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife. Bighorn sheep are known to frequent the area so look up high and along the sides of the mountains.

Whether you are looking for a quick afternoon adventure or an overnight camping extravaganza, Ram Falls has all your needs covered.
