If you're looking for summer swimming spots in Ontario, you'll want to add this dreamy destination to your plans. With towering limestone cliffs and sparkling turquoise water, this majestic spot is like a little slice of Italy right here in the province.

The Elora Quarry is a stunning natural wonder located just over an hour from Toronto. It's known for its towering, 40-foot limestone cliffs and serene waters, making it a dreamy spot for a swim.

It was even named among "the best secret beaches in Canada" by Chatelaine in 2019. According to the article, the quarry's turquoise waters and rock formations will make you "swear it's Lake Como, Italy."

The quarry is home to a large, sandy beach where you can relax, as well as a few shaded areas for picnics.

In addition to swimming, you can hike along a one-kilometre loop trail that weaves through cedar forests and offers scenic views of the Grand River.

The Elora Quarry is open annually from June to September. The opening date for 2025 has yet to be revealed, so keep an eye on the website for updates.

Before visiting, you'll need to book one of the two four-hour time slots offered each day: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

While you're in the area, you can also check out the quaint town of Elora. Dubbed "Ontario's most beautiful village," the area boasts old-world streets and European vibes.
