Ford Calls Emergency Meeting With Hospital Leaders To Break Ontario's Surge In Cases
Ontario hospitals are calling for widespread four-week lockdowns.
As Ontario continues to report record-breaking COVID-19 cases,has decided to call an emergency meeting this afternoon to address the issue.
The premier made the announcement early Friday morning on Twitter.
He will be meeting with Health Minister Christine Elliot and Ontario's hospital leaders about solutions to the concerning trends.
In a letter released Thursday, the Ontario Hospital Associationany public health region with a positivity rate of over 40/100,000.
Ontario hospitals are reportedly beingfor a spike in COVID-19 patients.
The OHA hopes widespread lockdowns will help combat the "devastating surge" to come.
"We are now in the holiday season and if members of the public choose to ignore public health measures and gather outside their households, the consequences risk overwhelming Ontario's hospitals," wrote the OHA.
