Last week, Ontario shrunk its gathering limits to just 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.

A massive illegal party in Scarborough broke those limits on Tuesday night, according to the Toronto Police Service (TPS).

Fourteen attendees were fined $880 each, according to TPS Constable Randall Arsenault.

Arsenault says that 40 to 50 people were in attendance.

The 14 individuals were charged under the Reopening Ontario Act. Narcity has reached out to Toronto police for more details.

Premier Doug Ford is cracking down with an even steeper fine for hosts and organizers of illegal gatherings.

The maximum penalty one could face for hosting a party is $10,000, the harshest in the country.
