Restaurant Workers Will Officially Get Vaccinated In Phase 2 & Here's When That Starts
A new group of workers have officially been added to the list of people who are eligible to get COVID-19 vaccines in Phase 2.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Doug Ford announced that all workers in the restaurant industry will soon be able to get a vaccine.

The new group joins the already existing list of "essential frontline workers" who will be eligible for a vaccine in Phase 2, which is set to start in April.
Others included in this phase are elementary teachers, police, transportation workers, and more.
Ford states that they are looking into allowing taxi drivers to be put on this list as well.
What is the full list of workers who can get a vaccine in phase two?
According to the Ontario government, workers who are not able to conduct their job remotely will be able to get a vaccine in Phase 2.
These workers include:
- Elementary / secondary school staff and bus drivers that transport students
- Workers responding to critical events (e.g., police, fire, compliance, funeral, special constables)
- Child care workers
- Licensed foster care workers
- Food manufacturing workers
- Agriculture and farm workers
- High-risk and critical retail workers (grocery and pharmacies)
- Remaining manufacturing workers
- Social workers (including youth justice)
- Courts and justice system workers (including probation and parole)
- Lower-risk retail workers (wholesalers, general goods)
- Transportation, warehousing and distribution
- Energy, telecom (data and voice), water and wastewater management
- Financial services
- Waste management
- Mining, oil and gas workers
On top of this, seniors over the age of 60, individuals with specific health conditions, and people who live in hot spots will also be eligible during this phase.
When can young adults get vaccinated?
If you don’t fall under the list of essential workers in Phase 2 or meet any of the other conditions, you will have to wait a little bit longer to get your vaccine.
The rest of the population will be able to get vaccinated in Phase 3, which is currently slated to start in July.
However, government officials announced earlier this month that they hope to give every Ontarian who wants one their first dose by June 20.
