For anyone wondering why they should get the COVID-19 vaccine, one of the country's top doctors had a very Canadian explanation.

Dr. Howard Njoo, deputy chief public health officer, said during an update about vaccine distribution that, while no vaccine is 100% effective, there's still a reason to get one.

"As they say in hockey when it comes to scoring goals, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take," he said.

Njoo quoted a famous statement said by Wayne Gretzky back in 1983, but you might also recognize the line from the 2005 sitcom The Office when Steve Carell's character Michael Scott attributes it to himself.

Njoo used it as a way to tell everyone that they should take whichever COVID-19 vaccine is offered to them.
