Certain citizens across the United States have begun receiving their doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, but it has not been clear when everyone will be able to get them until now.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, told NBC's TODAY the vaccines should become widely available by this April thanks to accelerated initiatives.

Editor's Choice: The CDC Released An Exciting New Guideline For Fully Vaccinated People

By the time we get to April [...] virtually everybody and anybody in any category could start to get vaccinated. Dr. Fauci

Fauci said the rate of doses being administered will greatly accelerate in the coming months thanks to more deliveries of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and the potential approval of a third one.

He added that the process will speed up thanks to more places administering the vaccine in communities including pharmacies, mass vaccine centers, and mobile units.

But "open season" for vaccinations does not put Americans in the clear just yet, as Fauci predicts life won't be ready to return to normal until late summer into early fall 2021.
