There are government of Canada jobs available for students in France.

You can make up to $21 an hour and an additional $30 every day if you get hired!

Student Guides work at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial and the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial in northern France.

Veterans Affairs Canada is hiring 15 post-secondary students through the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP).

As a student guide, you'll give tours to groups on preserved battlefields and underground tunnels, explain the Canadian military history, and answer questions on the sites, local attractions and points of interest.

This job requires you to work outdoors and in preserved underground tunnels, so you must be comfortable with nature and confined spaces for a short amount of time.

The FSWEP salary for these jobs is $18.42 to $21.13 an hour, plus a $30 daily living allowance.

New guides will work from August 11 to December 12, 2025, and returning guides will work from August 4 to December 12, 2025.

You must be a post-secondary student who meets all of the FSWEP eligibility criteria.

It's required that you have public speaking skills and can communicate in English and French.

Also, before starting work, you must provide proof that you have:

  • a valid First Aid Certificate
  • a valid CPR certificate
  • a valid Canadian driver's license with no restrictions and/or a valid international driving permit
  • valid documentation for travelling to and working in France (including a passport)
  • confirmation of current full-time student status in a recognized post-secondary institution (with Registrar's seal)
  • a signed attestation confirming the intent to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
  • a valid work visa for France

If you get hired, you must arrange and pay for your travel.

You could be eligible for a partial reimbursement of your airfare costs (up to $1,000) after completing the work assignment and a satisfactory evaluation.

The deadline to apply is Monday, May 12, 2025.
