With so many more people working from home, IKEA Canada has managed to become a huge part of people's office setups.

In its 2020 annual summary report, the furniture retail giant said they had sold 631,800 desks across the country.

With Canada's population estimated at just over 38 million, that's basically one desk for every 60 people.

On top of providing an essential part of many Canadians' newly created work-from-home spaces, IKEA also sold a huge amount of one of its most famous items.

The company reports that over the year, it served 22.9 million meatball plates, along with 2.2 million hot dogs.

While IKEA Canada managed to make $2.32 billion over the course of the pandemic, it is now turning its attention to selling less for Black Friday.

This year's event will focus on giving old furniture new life through a sell-back event and donation programs, rather than a typical sale.

"We are driven by a simple, yet powerful vision to create a better everyday life at home for the many and this has never been more meaningful than it is today,” Michael Ward, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer, said in a statement.
