Justin Bieber Sues 2 Women For Defamation Over Sexual Assault Allegations
He’s fighting back! Over the past few days, Justin Bieber has been using his platform to shut down prior allegations of sexual assault from two women. The Canadian star has evidence to prove that the claims are false and defamatory, and is currently working to sue his accusers.
With the #MeToo movement gaining traction over the years, thousands of survivors all over the world have been able to come forward and share their tragic stories of abuse. However, some of these stories are proven to be false.
TMZ reports that a woman named Danielle alleged that Bieber assaulted her in Austin, Texas in 2014 at the Four Seasons on March 9. However, the “Yummy” singer provided proof that on that date, he and former girlfriend Selena Gomez were staying at a rental property, not a hotel.
A second woman named Kadi made similar claims that Bieber assaulted her in New York City at the Langham Hotel early in the morning on May 5 back in 2015.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ show that the 26-year-old calls this incident “factually impossible” and “an elaborate hoax”.
As it turns out, Bieber was attending the Met Gala that evening, and afterwards hit up an after-party where he stayed until nearly 4 a.m, making Kadi’s claims impossible.
The Canadian icon’s lawsuit explains that he has theories that Danielle and Kadi may actually be the same person running two separate social media accounts, or that his accusers are working in cahoots.
TMZ reports that Bieber is suing for $20 million in damages — $10 million for each story.
Earlier this month, the “Boyfriend” singer took to Twitter to publicly address the allegations.
“Rumors are rumors but sexual abuse is something I don’t take lightly. I wanted to speak out right away but out of respect to so many victims who deal with these issues daily I wanted to make sure I gathered the facts before I made any statement,” he wrote.
The 26-year-old then went on to share various articles, receipts, and witness reports to back his story against both Kadi and Danielle.
“Every claim of sexual abuse should be taken very seriously and this is why my response was needed. However this story is factually impossible and that is why I will be working with twitter and authorities to take legal action,” he tweeted on June 21.
Whether his two accusers are in fact the same person, or if they’re working together remains unknown, but the ongoing lawsuit is sure to provide us with answers.
