Justin Timberlake's Instagram notifications were going off Tuesday morning following the release of the New York Times documentary "Framing Britney Spears."

The documentary focuses on the "#freebritney" movement, going from her childhood to her current court battles, but it seems fans took a special interest in what it revealed about her three-year relationship with Justin Timberlake.

After watching the documentary, fans took to Twitter targeting Timberlake for supposedly "slut-shaming" Spears to boost his own career.

The couple dated until 2002 and the documentary shows some of the most pivotable moments following their breakup.

It starts off by showing Timberlake's "Cry Me A River" music video, which features a Britney Spears look-alike and lyrics talking about cheating in a relationship, which convinced many at the time that she had been unfaithful to Timberlake.

A radio interview with Timberlake is then revealed, where he was asked if he had sex with Spears, to which he laughs and replies "Okay, I did it."

More interviews like this followed, where Timberlake laughed when he was asked if Spears kept her promise to wait until marriage to have sex.

In a 2003 interview with MTV, Spears said she "thought he was the one."

Many took to Instagram and flooded Timberlake's latest post with comments demanding he apologize to Spears.
