On Wednesday, June 9, Airbnb announced it's on the hunt for 12 lucky people who will get to live for free in Airbnb listings anywhere in the world for an entire year.

Each person who is selected can bring up to three guests along with them and Airbnb will cover the cost of accommodations.

The company will also provide a transportation allowance as well as suggestions for listings and local experiences.

While the program will take place from July 2021 to July 2022, you would only be travelling for 10 of the 12 months and you can expect to start your journey in September.

Here's what you need to know about the program and the application process.

What's Needed From You

The 12 people who are selected will help inform product changes and give feedback about the Airbnb experience.

You also have the option of listing your own property while travelling. In this case, the company asks that you document the experience of hosting while travelling, as well.

You will be asked to document your experiences weekly and share those records with Airbnb.

Who Can Apply?

You can apply for the program if you are 18 years or older and the application must be in English.

You can only apply if you are a resident of the following countries or regions: Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada excluding the Province of Quebec, Chile, mainland China, Denmark, Dubai, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, or US.

How Do You Apply?

To fill out the application, you need to include your name, email, country of residence, age, and occupation. You also need to confirm that you have a valid passport until at least February of 2023 and that you can speak and understand a conversational level of English.

You will be asked if you have experience living long-term outside of your household and if you are comfortable documenting your journey on a weekly basis. You also have to select how many companions you'd bring along, between zero and three.

Finally, you will be asked, "Why do you want to live anywhere on Airbnb for a year, and what excites you most about the opportunity to live nomadically and potentially inform the future of the Airbnb product?"

There is one more optional question that asks "If you are passionate about exploring new ways to live and work, can you please tell us what you do now or have done that applies to this new way of living?"

That's it! The winners will be selected by a pannel in July.
