A new Lotto 6/49 winner in Canada scored $5 million with an online ticket.

She found out in the middle of the night and thought it was only a free play or a few bucks, but it was actually millions of dollars!

It was recently announced that the $5 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot from the draw on May 7 has been won by Dianne Morgan of St. Albert, which is just northwest of Edmonton.

Morgan purchased her winning ticket through Play Alberta, the only regulated online gambling site in the province.

This $5 million jackpot is the largest prize ever won through Play Alberta.

The Lotto 6/49 winning numbers were 1, 4, 8, 13, 16, and 26 for the draw on Wednesday, May 7.

"I was awake in the middle of the night and checked my email, and it said I had won a prize," Morgan explained. "I figured it was a free play or $20 or something."

Then she checked her Play Alberta account, and it revealed that she had won $5 million.

"I couldn't believe it," Morgan said. "I never fell back asleep."

The St. Albert resident doesn't quite believe that she's a Lotto 6/49 winner even after a few weeks.

"I'm still thinking, 'Is it real?'"

"When you buy, you dream of all the things you'll do," she said. "When you win, it's overwhelming."

Morgan already has plans for the $5 million, including finally travelling for herself after working as a travel agent for 39 years.

“Five million dollars is pretty life-changing," Morgan said. "I've been to a lot of countries for work, and now I get to play the tourist."

She also plans to spend time with family — both here and abroad — and do more with the "freedom and flexibility" that comes with winning $5 million.
