This new Lotto Max winner got $1 million with a ticket he bought online!

He found out that he won when he checked his email first thing in the morning.

It was recently announced that Alex Larson was the winner of the only Maxmillions prize from the Lotto Max draw on August 1, 2025.

Larson, a resident of Sherwood Park, which is just east of Edmonton, purchased the ticket online through Play Alberta.

The Lotto Max winning numbers that got him the Maxmillions prize were 2, 7, 20, 37, 42, 43, and 46.

He woke up early after the draw, and the first thing he saw when he looked at his phone that morning was an email from Play Alberta.

"I was playing golf — real early tee time with my boss — so I was just checking my email," he said. "It was from Play Alberta, and it said, 'Congratulations on your win!'"

"I was kind of groggy, but when I saw the win, I was awake," Larson said.

"I love the convenience of Play Alberta, you don't even have to check."

Larson also told Lotto Spot that even with the excitement, he still made his tee time.

"I shared the news with my boss, and he was pretty excited for me. There were a lot of high-fives," he revealed. "Actually, he said, 'Breakfast is on you today.'"

Larson works in banking, so he's going to invest most of his winnings.

But he told Lotto Spot that he still plans to have a bit of fun now that he's a millionaire.

"I want to make my money work for me, to help meet my financial goals," Larson said. “I'm also thinking about getting a new set of clubs."

He already had trips to Iceland, Switzerland, and Italy planned for the fall, so the Lotto Max win will help with some of those costs.

"It's truly a life-changing amount of money," Larson said.
