He’s back! It’s been over a year since the latest season’s release, and fans have been anxiously waiting for news about Lucifer season five. The show, which was rescued by Netflix after being cancelled, will be coming to the streamer later this summer.

In a cleverly timed 66.6-second long YouTube video, Netflix recounted some of the hottest moments from the hit series, including plenty of innuendos and hilarious jokes.

At the end of the clip, the streamer revealed that the highly anticipated fifth season of Lucifer will premiere this August, ensuring that your summer gets the spicy end you’ve been seeking.

The beloved crime series previously aired on Fox but was cancelled after three seasons, Deadline reports.

Netflix heard the desperate pleas of viewers, and promised two more seasons of Lucifer, with the fifth being it’s final.

It was announced late last month, however, that series star Tom Ellis struck a deal with the streamer to revive his character for a sixth season, according to Deadline.

The site also notes that season five didn’t finish filming before production was shut down a few months back, so the scheduled release date is only for the first part of season five.

In the fourth season, viewers saw Lucifer himself working alongside Detective Chloe Decker as she learned the shocking truth about his identity.

Thankfully, Chloe was able to accept him and even told the Lord of Hell she loved him before he returned back to the underworld.

Fans have been waiting for word of what to expect from season five, and according to Entertainment Weekly, we’re in store for some devilish drama.

“When season 5 kicks off, Lucifer is still stuck ruling the underworld [...] Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) reluctantly pays him a visit because there's a problem on Earth he can't deal with on his own,” the site explains.

"Lucifer makes a tumultuous return, Chloe rethinks romance, Ella finally finds a nice guy, and Amenadiel adjusts to the whole fatherhood thing."

Entertainment Weekly also reports that the upcoming season will even feature a musical episode!

The fifth installment of Lucifer is coming to Netflix on August 21. You can check out the date reveal below.
