The Week Is Going To Be Dangerously Hot In Manitoba With Temperatures Up To 40 C
You may want to find the closest beach or at least a building with air conditioning. Environment Canada has issued several Manitoba heat warnings as of Monday, June 29. With the humidex, the highs could get up to 40 C. If some of you were wishing for warmer weather, it looks like your dreams have come true.
After a long and chilly winter, summer is finally here and it’s going to be a spicy one.
According to Environment Canada, this type of heat in Manitoba can actually be pretty dangerous.
Altogether, 18 places are under the warning which means a large part of the province is going to be hotter than usual.
The warnings read that the weather pattern is bringing with it a prolonger period of hot weather over portions of the province.
The areas impacted are the southern and east-central sections of Manitoba.
Daytime highs are anticipated to be in the low 30s. While this is hot, the real heat will come in with the humidex.
Humidex values around 40 C are expected to hit on Monday and continue for the next few days.
If you happen to find yourself in a building with AC, you may want to consider yourself lucky.
When the temperatures are this hot, the risk for sun-related sickness is amplified. The risk is especially greater for children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and those who work outside, warn Environment Canada.
Remember to drink lots of water when things start to get spicy.
While sitting outside in the sun may seem ideal, it's important to find a cool place to relax.
Along with the warning, Environment Canada is also reminding the public about the symptoms of heat-related illnesses.
If you want to hang outside, look for dizziness, nausea, vomiting, rapid breathing, extreme thirst, decreased urination, and fainting.
