Miami's Hard Rock Drive-In Is Officially Open This Weekend & The First Flicks Are So Fun

Movie nights are back!
Contributor

It's time to gather your crew and head to the movies. The Hard Rock Stadium Drive-in Theater in Miami is officially open and ready to serve guests. On Friday, the makeshift theater will be showing its first round of movies.

The experience will be unlike anything one has seen in South Florida. Guests will be able to drive their cars right onto the playing field and watch the classics. The massive drive-in can hold up to 230 cars and show a mix of Dolphins' games for those starved for sports and family-friendly movies.

There will also be an open-air theater for those looking for a  more intimate setting. It will be hosted on the stadium's south plaza and will allow guests an outdoor experience with the stylings of a plush couch.

If you want food, no problem as snacks and other treats can be ordered and delivered right to your vehicle.

Here's the starter line-up of films:

  • Friday, June 19: Selma
  • Saturday, June 20: Hobbs & Shaw
  • Sunday, June 21: How To Train Your Dragon
  • Thursday, June 25: Men In Black
  • Friday, June 26: Yesterday

Drive-ins have been growing in popularity ever since the start of the pandemic, due to its outdoor nature and the ease to maintain social distance. This isn't the only drive-in concept coming to Miami.

Dezerland Park, which has been closed for nearly three months, is offering its own drive-in experience in the indoor park's parking lot and was announced back in May.

As a whole, South Florida didn't have a lot of drive-in movie options before the pandemic. Until recently, the  Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop Flea Market was the primary fix for those looking to catch an outdoor flick.

Tickets to the Hard Rock Stadium Drive-In will start at $39 per vehicle and can be ordered online through Ticketmaster.

Hard Rock Stadium Drive-In

Price: $39 per vehicle

Address: 347 Don Shula Dr., Miami Gardens, FL

Why You Should Go: Catch a movie or watch former Miami Dolphins' glory on the stadium's giant screens and state-of-the-art sound system.
