There are a lot of grocery stores in Canada, and people have shared which ones are most expensive.

You might expect Loblaws to be the number one choice, but it was actually beaten by another retailer.

Narcity recently posted on Facebook and asked Canadians, "What do you think the most expensive grocery stores in Canada are?"

There have been more than 300 comments so far, with over 20 retailers named as Canada's most expensive stores.

According to Canadians, the most expensive grocery store is Sobeys.

After that, Loblaws and Metro are tied for second as the most expensive grocery stores in Canada.

While Loblaws has locations across the country, Metro only has stores in Ontario and Quebec.

Then, Save On Foods is in third, Safeway is in fourth, and Whole Foods is in fifth.

Quite a few Canadians said that IGA, Longo's and Foodland are also expensive stores for groceries.

Those retailers aren't even national chains.

IGA operates in Quebec and western Canada, while Longo's has stores in southern Ontario, and Foodland has locations in Ontario and the Atlantic provinces.

Some Canadians commented that Co-op, Northern and Your Independent Grocery Store are the most expensive in Canada.

Superstore, Fortinos, Farm Boy, Zehrs and Thrifty Foods were only named as Canada's most expensive grocery stores by a few people.

You might not expect it, but some people commented that No Frills prices are going up and are almost the same as the expensive grocery stores.

Then, Walmart, Costco, FreshCo and Atlantic Superstore only got one comment each.

A lot of people said that all the grocery stores in this country are expensive and there are no cheap options anymore.

"Must be all. I can't afford to push a shopping cart anymore," someone commented.

But there are still cheaper stores where you can get groceries in Canada.

Recently, people shared the best cheap grocery stores in Canada, and the top choices include No Frills, Giant Tiger, Costco and others.

Narcity also asked Canadians what they think the cheapest grocery stores are and then checked prices to see where you can get products at lower prices.

Most of the "best" cheap grocery stores, according to Canadians, are also retailers where you can get products at cheaper prices.
