The best cheap grocery stores in Canada have been revealed.

There are three chains people shop at the most to get lower prices — and Costco isn't one of them!

Recently, Narcity posted on Facebook and asked, "What do you think are Canada's best cheap grocery stores?"

With almost 200 comments so far, Canadians have shared a bunch of stores that are the best places to find cheap prices.

These are the best cheap grocery stores in Canada, according to Canadians:

  1. No Frills
  2. Food Basics
  3. Giant Tiger

"I think Giant Tiger is an up and comer. Getting better as time goes on," someone commented.

Those top stores are followed by FreshCo, Walmart, Costco and Dollarama.

"Costco is fantastic if you have a big family," someone commented.

Another person said that Costco is a good choice, but you have to be careful what you buy because some items don't have much of a deal if you don't need bulk.

"Dollarama for anything except meat, produce and dairy," one person said.

These are the stores that weren't mentioned as much but are still thought to be some of the best cheap grocery stores in Canada: Real Canadian Superstore, Metro, T&T, Farm Boy, Save On Foods, Super C and IGA.

Someone even said Loblaws is a good cheap store, which might surprise you!

Another person commented that they shop at Sobeys only for sale items.

It's not just one grocery store that has the best value, according to some Canadians.

"I find you have to shop multiple stores based on sales and items," another person said.

Someone else noted that stores have "good deals at different times," so they look for discounted products at multiple stores.

"The store with the best flyer sales wins for that week," one person said.

Quite a few people said there are no cheap grocery stores in Canada and all retailers are overpriced in some way.

"Nothing is cheap anymore," someone commented.

Earlier this year, Narcity asked Canadians what their favourite grocery stores are and both No Frills and Giant Tiger also ranked in the top three.

Costco and FreshCo were top choices as well.

It seems that the favourite grocery stores are also the best cheap grocery stores in Canada!
