Mushrooms Are Being Recalled In Ontario Because Of Possible Dangerous Bacteria

They warn the toxin can go unnoticed in smell and appearance too.

A brand of mushrooms was just recalled for presumably carrying dangerous bacteria.

Belle Grove's whole white mushrooms have been sold in Ontario, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

Monaghan Mushrooms Ltd., the company that carries the mushrooms, is recalling the brand effective immediately because they may be carrying the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which can go unnoticed in food.

They were sold in 227 g packages and would have a best before date of January 15, 2021.

The CFIA said that if you have the product in your household, to throw it away or return it to the store.

The agency is asking those who believe they've become sick from eating the possibly contaminated food to call their doctor.

Symptoms in adults can include facial paralysis, a hard time swallowing or speaking, blurred or double vision, and a change in how your voice sounds. 

Some of these symptoms can also be seen in children.
