A B.C. man felt that he was misled by Canada Dry ginger ale and launched a class-action lawsuit as a result. 

According to CTV News, Victor Cardoso had been buying the soft drink for years because of the claim on the label saying "made with real ginger." 

Because the root is used to alleviate stomach pain or cramps, Cardoso reportedly believed that the drink had medical properties.

The Plaintiff consistently purchased Canada Dry Ginger Ale [...] due to his belief that it was "Made from Real Ginger" and was a premium product that had medicinal benefits.

The court document outlines the accusations. 

One of the lawyers representing the claim told CTV News that actual ginger is used in the products, but it's a small amount that's turned into a concentrate, therefore losing its medicinal benefits. 

According to a report from CBC News back in 2019, Canada Dry said their product was made with real ginger and always will be. Though, they did not specify how much. 

Narcity has reached out to Canada Dry and Victor Cardoso for comment and we will update this article when we receive a response. 

CTV has reported that the case has been settled for $200,000.

Though, Canada Dry Mott's Inc. reportedly "denies liability and is not required to change its product labelling or advertising for products marketed in Canada."
