With an election coming up, voters are wondering what will the NDP do in B.C. and their plan includes giving out "recovery benefits" and freezing rent.

On Tuesday, October 6, the party lead by Premier John Horgan released its plan for the next four years.

The biggest promise looks like their idea to give "families a one-time $1,000 recovery benefit," and individuals $500.

Another big promise is that they're planning to stop rent from going up until the end of 2021.

The maximum allowable rent increase next year is 1.4%, but if the NDP were elected, they plan to make it 0% for a year.

The BC Liberals promised to eliminate the PST tax for a year if elected — election day is October 24.

They say it will help to "rebuild British Columbia’s struggling economy" in the wake of the pandemic.

Both parties have also committed to bringing B.C. a free COVID-19 vaccine once it's available.
