Storybook streets, Victorian-era charm and more await at this enchanting small town near Toronto. The destination was recently named among the best in Canada, so it's time to plan that road trip.

Tripadvisor just dropped its 2025 Travellers' Choice Awards, featuring a roundup of incredible places to visit around the globe this year.

The award is given to spots that have received a high amount of positive reviews from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period. Less than 1% of Tripadvisor's listings actually achieve this milestone.

An Ontario destination landed at third place in the top Canadian destinations to visit this year, and it's just a road trip away from Toronto.

Niagara-on-the-Lake, located about an hour and a half from the city, is the place to go this year if you're craving an incredible getaway. Known for its storybook charm, historic downtown, spas, and wineries, the village will whisk you back in time.

"In Canada's wine country, Niagara-on-the-Lake presents a well-preserved 19th-century village and its charms," Tripadvisor said.

"Drive or bike through the area, stopping at wineries and Fort George National Historic Site. Ride along the Niagara Escarpment on horseback or book a white-water adventure at nearby Niagara Falls (you might have heard of them)."

You can enjoy stunning cherry blossoms during the spring, sun-filled patios and festivals in the summer, harvest charm in the fall and a magical Christmas village during the holiday season.

Some top attractions include Peller Estates Winery, COWS Creamery, the Shaw Festival Theatre and tSpa at Q.

Toronto and Ottawa were the only other Ontario destinations to make the list, coming in at number eight and 10. Vancouver and Banff took first and second place.

Enjoy storybook charm year-round in Niagara-on-the-Lake!
