You can wander along old-world main streets, sip warm drinks in cozy cafes and enjoy the dreamy winter vibes this destination has to offer.

Lanark County is a scenic region located close to Ottawa. According to Destination Ontario, it's home to some of the "oldest and prettiest towns in Canada" and is known as the "Maple Syrup Capital of Ontario."

During the colder months, Lanark County transforms into a frosty paradise complete with cozy, snow-capped villages and dreamy winter landscapes.

You can spend a day or more exploring some of the region's picture-perfect small towns, such as Mississippi Mills, Perth and Smiths Falls.

Almonte is another charming village to check out this winter. The riverside gem has been dubbed the "Hallmark Capital of Ontario" due to the many festive films that have been shot there. You can even take a tour around the area and discover some of the filming locations.

Another fun thing to do is explore the Seven Wonders of Lanark County. The driving tour takes you to dreamy bridges and stunning parks for the ultimate adventure.

There are lots of outdoor winter activities to enjoy, such as skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and skating. If you're hoping to avoid the cold, you can head to the museums and galleries for some indoor fun.
