Ontario gas prices have been on the rise since the new year and Friday's predictions are no exception.

Despite seeing some gas prices drop in Ontario cities at the end of 2023, January doesn't seem like it's off to a good start, with prices on the rise tomorrow.

According to Gas Wizard, pumps across the province are set to rise 3 cents per litre on Friday in most cities, bringing regions such as the Greater Toronto Area, Barrie and Guelph to 146.9 cents per litre.

The website's price history shows that on January 1, 2024, the GTA was at 142.9 cents per litre, which means that over the first five days of the year, gas prices have increased by 4 cents.

It's also worth noting that the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) states that the daily average gas price in Canada is 136.5 cents per litre, with the lowest being 136.3 cents per litre on January 2, 2024.

Nevertheless, Gas Wizard predicts that the cheapest place for gas in Ontario tomorrow will be in Peterborough, where motorists can expect to see prices as low as 130.9 cents per litre.

Another notable Ontario city worth mentioning is Thunder Bay, where gas prices are set to be 138.9 cents per litre on Friday, with a one-cent increase.

The majority of Ontario cities are predicted to sit at 146.9 cents per litre, including Toronto, Brampton, Cambridge, Hamilton, Kingston, Markham, Niagara, Oakville, Ottawa, St Catharines, Windsor and Waterloo.

If you feel like you're spending way too much at the pump, check out these eight ways to save on as in Ontario.
