This hidden gem near Toronto will whisk you away to the quaint autumn streets of Edinburgh

No passport needed!

Lead Writer, Travel

This destination near Toronto feels like a mini fall trip to Edinburgh. You can wander through historic streets and soak up some European vibes without needing to hop on a plane.

The old-world community is situated just over an hour from Toronto and is full of fall enchantment.

Galt, Ontario is a little community tucked away in Cambridge along the peaceful Grand River. It isn't technically a town, but it does have a charming village atmosphere paired with U.K-like views.

According to The Canadian Encyclopedia, the area was named after a Scottish novelist and "was a centre of Scottish settlement in Upper Canada," so you can expect some Scottish vibes while wandering through the streets.

You can enjoy a stroll along the Grand River, check out attractions like the Old Post Office and the Cambridge Centre for The Arts and dine at some of the restaurants and cafes.

Cambridge offers a range of things to see and do, and during the fall, you can take part in the Halloween Hunt or the Cambridge Pumpkin Walk for some spooky fun.

You can also take a trip to some of the surrounding fall farms such as Snyder's Farm, where you can fill up on harvest treats and enjoy some seasonal activities.

If you're craving a little taste of Scotland but don't want to blow your budget on a plane ticket, Galt is worth a road trip this fall.
