Residents living in Northern Ontario might want to pull out their winter jackets and shovels this weekend.

Ontario's weather forecast is predicting snow and freezing temperatures for northern regions, with lows of -3 expected on Sunday.

According to the Weather Network, areas like Fort Hope and Neskantaga will be hit by scattered flurries on Friday with the latter spot expected to receive up to 3 centimetres of snow.

The snow is expected to carry on into Saturday and Sunday, with Neskantaga receiving around 7 centimetres in total across all three days.

However, the wintry conditions won't last long as temperatures will warm up significantly by next week. In fact, both regions are expected to see daytime temperatures soar to highs of 17-18 degrees by Wednesday.
