Alberta's Rejected License Plates Include Wild Sexual References & COVID-19 Tributes

OLDBALZ, SGRDDY, and ABCDEFU were all rejected.

If you’re thinking about getting personalized Alberta license plates, be sure to follow the province's guidelines because references to sexual behaviour or COVID-19 are a no-go.

According to the Calgary Herald, a number of plates this year have been rejected for numerous reasons including offensive language, sexual references, or identification problems.

Some of the rejected plates listed by the Calgary Herald.

Among the list of rejected plates were seven references to COVID-19 including C0VID19, C0VID V, THE VID, and C0VID69.

The provincial government's guidelines say that personalized plates cannot contain things like political, religious or ethnic slurs, sexual connotations, offensive language, or illegal acts.

If a plate is rejected, the decision can be appealed to the Registrar of Motor Vehicle Services.
