Whoever said that you need to catch a flight to enjoy some crystal clear water? Grasshopper Point in Arizona boasts a luminous swimming hole that's perfect for a day of fun in the sun. Get ready to take a dip in the desert all without a trip to the beach!

Grasshopper Point features a huge cliffside swimming hole and picnic area that's perfect for a little R&R in nature.

You can visit any time this summer, Monday through Sunday, from 8 a.m. to dusk. If you load up the car, you'll only have to pay a $9 entrance fee, or you can walk in for only $2. 

Just be sure to bring cash or check, since credit cards aren't accepted. 

It's both cheap and relaxing!

The Forest Service website notes that the busiest times are on the weekends, so if you want a bit more privacy, you can opt for a weekday trip here.

While you're there, be sure to check out some of the surrounding trails. There are three different scenic hikes to choose from. 

One of which is Allens Bend Trail that takes you through the remains of an old orchard. After, you can relax off in the cool, refreshing water. 

With access to the swimming hole and nearby Oak Creek, there are a ton of other activities that you can participate in, including fishing, bird watching, and photography. 

Although the cliffs look tempting to jump from, the USDA cautions cliff jumping and diving because of the various depths of the hole, "hidden rocks and unforeseen objects that could be hazardous."

With scorching heat on Phoenix's forecast, there's no better time than now to escape the city and take a dip in some of the state's most transparent water.
