Phone Chargers Are Being Recalled In Canada Because Of Fire & Electric Shock Hazard

Health Canada has just issued a phone charger recall because a specific type of charger is getting so hot that it poses a risk of fire and electric shock. 

The recall is for the Belkin Portable Wireless Charger + Stand Special Edition, which is a wireless charging stand that's been sold in Canada.

221 Affected products sold in Canada.

The products were sold between July and October 2020 and though there is a risk, no incidents or injuries have been reported at this time. 

The model number is WIZ003tt and the serial numbers are as follows:

  • 35B01DO5014500-35B01DO5020003
  • 35B01DO6010001-35B01DO6010500

"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable wireless chargers and contact Belkin for instructions on safe disposal, and for a full refund," Health Canada advises. 

These products are now prohibited from being sold in Canada. 

If you've got one of these chargers at home, it's time to retire it and move on.
