Nearly every Canadian Senator is banned from entering Russia.

The Canadian Senate Chambers. Right: Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, diplomatic ties between Russia and Canada have become more strained. Now, Russia has banned dozens more Canadians from entering the country, including nearly every single sitting senator and a handful of others.
According to CTV News, the Russian government has put out an updated list of Canadian senators who have been banned from the country, which includes 86 of the sitting 90.
Also on the so-called "black list" is a former senator, making the total number banned 87.
Many of the senators took to social media to announce their pride in being included.
"This is a 'black list' I’m proud to be on," said Saskatchewan Sen. Denise Batters. "I proudly #StandWithUkraine."
This is a “black list” I’m proud to be on.

In the face of Putin’s horrendous atrocities in Russia’s unjustified invasion of #Ukraine, the homeland of all my ancestors, I proudly #StandWithUkraine.
Slava Ukraini!

#StandUpForUkraine
#SenCA #skpoli https://twitter.com/gray_mackenzie/status/1514312938881961991 …pic.twitter.com/5wyJgZwcBQ— Sen. "I’ve always wanted to be blacklisted," said Sen. Paula Simons. "I’ll wear this ban as a badge of honour."
I’ve always wanted to be blacklisted. Very proud to stand in such good company. I have always wanted to visit Russia, where my grandfather was born. Someday, I look forward to a time when I can visit with authentic pride. Meanwhile, I’ll wear this ban as a badge of honour.https://twitter.com/gray_mackenzie/status/1514312938881961991 …— Paula Simons (@Paula Simons) 1649883310
Patrick Brazeau, a senator from Quebec, said, "Personally, Russia wasn’t on my bucket list."

The four senators that weren't featured on the latest list include Sen. Percy Downe, who said that he's "been on this list/barred from Russia since 2017 when I supported the passing of the #MagnitskyAct."
Welcome Fellow Senators.Have been on this list/barred from Russia since 2017 when I supported the passing of the #MagnitskyAct. I think my speech “ that the current Russian government was a criminal organization masquerading as a government” was the tipping point. @Billbrowderhttps://twitter.com/gray_mackenzie/status/1514312938881961991 …— Senator Percy Downe (@Senator Percy Downe) 1649876841
Another who didn't make the cut, Sen. Tony Dean, told CTV News that he'd be "writing to complain immediately."
And these aren't the only Canadians that have been forbidden from entering Russia.
After Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke to the Canadian House of Commons, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly and Defence Minister Anita Anand were added to the list of Canadians prohibited from entering the country.
The list, which has hundreds of names on it, also includes the leaders of every major Canadian political party, every sitting member of parliament and several prominent Ukrainian Canadians.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Canada has imposed many sanctions against the Russian Federation, with Justin Trudeau and other federal ministers voicing their condemnation of the invasion and alleged war crimes that have taken place in the Ukrainian city of Bucha.
