The stage is officially set in Texas for the launch of the new SpaceX Starship 9 rocket after having to delay its previous launch date.

The new test flight comes after the company's Starship 8 (SN8) test flight in December, which successfully completed a landing flip maneuver before exploding back on the launch pad.

You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great - and that’s what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. Elon Musk

Prior to the launch of the SN8 rocket, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) denied the company's request for a waiver to exceed the maximum public risk allowed by federal safety regulations.

After they went ahead and launched the rocket anyway, the FAA began an investigation into the new Starship 9 (SN9) rocket, which delayed its launch until now.

With the FAA's official approval, the rocket is cleared to launch from the SpaceX launch site in Boca Chica, Texas, as early as Tuesday, February 2.

It is not certain if the event will happen today, as many factors, including weather, need to be taken into consideration before a launch is attempted.

SpaceX encourages those wanting to watch the launch to follow their social media accounts, as they will be updating the status of the rocket throughout the day.

The launch can be watched live on numerous live streams on Youtube, including NASASpaceflight.
