Who'd You Rather Have A Beer With? Justin Trudeau & Pierre Poilievre Each Think It's Them
Justin Trudeau and Pierre Poilievre had an interesting back-and-forth online this week and it all had to do with who they think Canadians would rather have a beer with.
The two politicians each think they're the top candidate and many Canadians are chiming in on who they'd rather go for drinks with.
The conversation started on X on February 20 with Poilievre re-tweeting a Toronto Star article with the headline "Nobody wants to have a beer with Justin Trudeau."
The Conservative leader then added his comments on why he thinks that is.
"Why would you want to have a beer with a self-righteous narcissist wagging his finger at you for heating your home & driving a car to work while he jets around the world?" Poilievre tweeted.
"He’d make you pick up the tab — including the federal beer tax which goes up April 1st."
On February 22, Trudeau responded to the tweet with a comeback about why the opposite is true.
"Hey Pierre, hold my beer," Canada's Prime Minister posted and included a poll conducted by @ryanjespersen which showed most people would choose to have a drink with him over Poilievre.
Trudeau had 60% of the votes while Poilievre had half of that with 30%.
The leader of the People's Party of Canada Maxime Bernier came in third with over 7% of the votes and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh had nearly 2%.
Many Canadians have since chimed in with their own opinions of who they would choose.
One person tweeted they would opt for a drink with Poilievre.
Another X user chose Trudeau.
"I would love a beer with Trudeau. Me. Him. One camera. No mercy," they wrote.
Others shared they can't afford beer anymore since Trudeau "put a tax on it."
Another person replied that having a beer with Trudeau "would ruin beer for [them] forever."
It looks like the conversation between Trudeau and Poilievre has ended there for now, with neither politician engaging any further.
Poilievre has since gone on to blast Trudeau on other issues on his social media page.
