Life's a beach, even in the city! 🏖️

Grab your sunhats and SPF because we’re going to the beach... Well, sort of. A new beach-themed Toronto patio has popped up in a parking lot in the 6ix, and it will make you forget you’re in the city.

Extended street patios have become the new norm for Toronto in summer 2020, but a sandy new spot located at Gerrard Street East and Jones Avenue takes the street patio game to a whole new level.

Gerrard East Market, or GEM for short, is a collaborative effort that’s brought numerous Toronto restaurants and local businesses together in one beachy oasis for you to enjoy.

Complete with white sand, picnic tables, umbrellas, Muskoka chairs, and dreamy twinkle lights, this is like a vacation vibe right in the heart of the city.

There’s even a massive outdoor screen where you can watch sports.

Visitors can order from various participating restaurants including Hype Food Co., Pinkerton's, Yard Sale, Vatican Gift Shop, Poor Romeo, and more.

It's well set up for the new socially-distanced world, too. To order, you simply scan the QR code on your table which will bring you to an app with the GEM menu.

You pay through your phone and soon after your food will arrive.

No contact? No problem!

The parking-lot-sports-bar-patio-beach triple threat is made possible by the CafeTO program, which allows certain local restaurants to extend their patio areas until November.

When it comes to stunning patios in Ontario that will figuratively transport you all around the world, this beachy gem in the middle of the city is one of the prettiest we’ve seen.

But maybe the most beautiful part of the whole thing is just how many local businesses have come together for this project.

Two Cats Cannabis Co., PYMBO Investments, 2-4-1 Pizza, Com Tam Pho, La Cubana, and Hand Pulled Noodles are also part of this collaborative effort.

And according to a post on GEM’s Instagram, that list will just keep growing.

So if you're looking to have a little fun under the sun, you need to add GEM to your late-summer Toronto bucket list before it's gone.
