Residents of a Toronto apartment complex will now have a harder time getting their mail following a decision by Canada Post to suspend service to the building.

The decision came after some residents of 72 Gamble Ave. in East York were not following mask guidelines, reports CP24.

There have been health and safety concerns over an extended period expressed by our employees that residents of this apartment complex are not wearing a mask. Sylvie Lapointe

Sylvie Lapointe, a spokesperson for Canada Post, said to the outlet that these concerns have been ongoing for "an extended period."

According to the memo left at the building, residents will now have to pick up their parcels at the nearest post office — which happens to be 5.5 kilometres away on Commissioners Street.

Lapointe did not specify when service will resume but said that Canada Post is working to solve the issue quickly.

Since July, Toronto residents have been mandated to wear masks in all shared public spaces — including in apartment buildings and condos.

Lapointe emphasized that Canada Posts's "top priority has always been to ensure we are doing everything possible to keep our people, and the communities we serve, safe.”
